Creating Racial Wedges: Affirmative Action on Trial examined the Harvard affirmative action case and its impact on civil rights. The event featuring guest speakers, Dr. Julie J. Park and Dr. Pranav Jani. It was moderated by Dr. Marc Johnston Guerrero and was sponsored by The Office of Student Life and Multicultural Center (MCC), Higher Education and Student Affairs (HESA, & Asian American Studies. Dr. Park addressed Affirmative Action and the model minority myth, Dr. Jani discussed the history of Asian and African-American solidarity, and Dr. Guerrero discussed the impacts of the case on accessible education.

This event was attended by over 100 graduate and undergraduate students, who raised questions about the threats to Affirmative Action and the potential consequences for the accessibility of education. Students enjoyed dinner together and listened to each of the panels before the floor was opened up for a longer discussion.
