Join us for lunch while our new Latinx Studies faculty members discuss their current research, revealing what we mean when we talk about "Ethnic Studies" as a field of study. Save your seat (plus tacos!) by RSVPing through the link below.
We will welcome our new faculty:
Fernanda Díaz Basteris is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Her research is on U.S. Caribbean/Latinx cultural forms of resistance to displacement, coloniality, and racial capitalism through literature, popular art and graphic narratives.
Mintzi Auanda Martínez-Rivera is an Assistant Professor of English, specializing in Folklore. She has published on the indigenous rock movement in México, on conducting research in conflict zones, and decolonizing research methodologies.
Carlos Rivas is an Assistant Professor of History of Art. His research examines the history of colonialism in Central America, twentieth-century mass migration in El Salvador and Guatemala, and artistic expressions in the Central American diasporic community.
This event is free and open to the public.
The Humanities Institute and its related centers host a wide range of events, from intense discussions of works in progress to cutting-edge presentations from world-known scholars, artists, activists and everything in between.
We value in-person engagement at our events as we strive to amplify the energy in the room. But we also recognize the fact that not all our guests will be able to visit our space. Zoom access will be available to this event upon request. If you wish to have such access, or you would like to request other accommodations for this event, please send your request to Connor Behm: behm.42@osu.edu.
