Join the Asian American Studies program for an informal conversation about the field’s relationship to West Asia, in particular, Palestine, Iran, and other countries in the region affected by recent events. Led by OSU faculty, the discussion will consider the geographical scope of “Asia” in Asian American studies and the different meanings and uses of “Orientalism” in the field compared to what has alternately been designated as Arab/American, Middle East, West Asian, and Southwest Asian and North African (SWANA) studies. This event is free, open to the public, and welcoming to everyone.

Light refreshments will be served.

Co-sponsored by the Asian American Studies Program, the Center for Ethnic Studies, and the Humanities Institute.
