Latinx Studies Speaker Series: Talk and Workshop with Días Cómic
Autumn 2024 Latinx Studies Speaker SeriesPublic Talk and Workshop with Días CómicDías Cómic is a Puerto Rican comics collective composed of Rosaura Rodríguez and Omar Banuchi. Since 2011 they have collaborated in the creation and publication of graphic narratives about daily life and society in the colony of Puerto Rico. In 2020 Días Cómic evolved into a graphic narrative publisher, elevating the voices of Boricuas living in the Island, in the disaster aftermath. Their published books focus on history, politics, grief and daily life. Días Cómic will facilitate a hands-on comic workshop and public talk at OSU as part of the AU24 Latinx Studies Speaker Series. This event is open to the public and will center meaningful conversations about Colonialism and Latinidades, Latinx Comics Studies and Caribbean History. The workshop aims to make connections with other BIPOC comic artists visiting campus for CXC, the Cartoon Crossroads Columbus festival hosted at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum. This event is free and open to the public. Co-sponsored by the Latinx Studies Program of the Center for Ethnic Studies, the Department of English, the OSU Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Humanities Institute.The Humanities Institute and its related centers host a wide range of events, from intense discussions of works in progress to cutting-edge presentations from world-known scholars, artists, activists and everything in between.We value in-person engagement at our events as we strive to amplify the energy in the room.
