Ethnic Studies, Then & Now: Activism - History - Community - Scholarship
Please join the Ethnic Studies community for a panel discussion about the origins of the discipline of Ethnic Studies in the United States, what Ethnic Studies means for us at the crossroads of our current moment, and what the future(s) of Ethnic Studies might look like.
This event will focus on the topic of the role that university activism played in the development of "Ethnic Studies" as an academic field and the history of the foundation of Ethnic Studies at Ohio State. The discussion will make space for a fresh look at how we talk about the "ethnic" in Ethnic Studies in the 2020s (and particularly, under different presidential administrations) and how the relationship between activism and the university in recent years has impacted how students, teachers, and the community engage with Ethnic Studies as a scholarly field.
Light refreshments will be served. RSVPs are required for this event. The RSVP form is now closed.
